What is maca?
Maca is a root vegetable native to the Peruvian Andes. It has been consumed for thousands of years as both a food and a traditional botanical ingredient and is now widely used in nutritional supplements.
What is the difference between white, red and black maca?
White, red and black maca all come from the same plant species but naturally contain slightly different levels of certain plant compounds. White maca has traditionally been associated with vitality, energy and sexual wellbeing, while red and black maca have their own traditional uses. We use white maca in our formulation because it best aligns with our intended nutritional focus.
What is gelatinised maca?
Gelatinised maca is not made with gelatine. It is gently heated to remove much of the naturally occurring starch, making it easier to digest and allowing a more concentrated source of maca nutrients and plant compounds.
Is gelatinised maca better than raw maca?
Neither form is inherently "better," but gelatinised maca is often preferred in supplements because it is generally easier to digest, more concentrated and suitable for daily use. This is why we chose it for our formulation.
What are macamides?
Macamides are unique naturally occurring compounds found almost exclusively in maca. Together with macaenes and other plant compounds, they contribute to maca's distinctive nutritional profile and have become a major focus of scientific research.
